According to actual research, sexual permissiveness is not correlated with lower self esteem or emotional instability in women.

Do you know what it is correlated with?

Disagreeableness.

At least some of the women men are calling “crazy” are actually just women able to think for themselves and do what they want despite whatever BS expectations society throws at them.

Certainly in some cases, it does seem like women seek validation through sex as a solution to bad self esteem. However, this may be counterbalanced by the fact that higher self esteem may be necessary to go after what you want. Perhaps the lack of correlation also indicates that having sex leads to improvements in self esteem, which ironically seems to be an accepted concept for men.

Also, it is true that sex addictions may develop as a means of unhealthy emotional regulation. In that case, you would expect sexual permissiveness and emotional instability to be correlated. However, this may be counterbalanced by how many emotionally unstable people may choose to be less sexually active due to emotional risks that can arise with sex. Alternatively, sex has emotional benefits that may actually improve stability. Ironically, it is generally men, not women, who will respond to, “I’m in a shitty mood,” with, “You just need to get laid.”
