I actually think the vulva is designed very well in keeping the clitoris out of the way. Just because the external clitoris isn’t directly stimulated during intercourse doesn’t mean it doesn’t play an important role in reward mechanisms. If anything, it makes sense to require the man to please the woman before allowing him to penetrate her. Also, some indirect stimulation of the glans and body is inevitable via mechanical action on the labia minora and clitoral hood with each thrust. Though people have tried to discount this mechanism, it is readily observable and just basic physics. Stimulation of the internal clitoris is inevitable as well.
If I were tasked to design a receptacle for semen that would also function as a birth canal for a large offspring, with a mechanism for pleasure built in, I could not design a better device than the vulva.
