I can’t even talk about the need for better OB/GYN education in clitoral neurovascular anatomy without guys making sexual comments. I’ve even had guys comment, “Talking about this is making me horny.” And then they also wonder if there’s something wrong with me because I so openly talk about sex. This could mean I’m a slut after all.

When I first started trying to talk about this in 2012, my biggest mistake was perhaps choosing a group of male medical students at a bar as my audience. It was disheartening to me how they made the conversation about sex when I was trying to talk about anatomy. Then again, I had my own fears back then of being seen as a pervert that biased my perceptions. I didn’t feel like they were getting it so I got discouraged.

Getting clitoral neural anatomy included in OB/GYN textbooks. It was finally added for the first time in July 2019. BME/EE @WUSTL
