I will pay $10,000 to anyone who finds the nerves of the clitoris in a gynecology textbook

I am guaranteeing that not one of these textbooks contains both an illustration and description of the innervation of the clitoris. If anyone can prove a single one of these textbooks has it, I will pay them $10,000.

If anyone thinks I am missing an important OB/GYN textbook, let me know, and I’ll add it to the list after I check it for this consistent omission.

Reviews, showing screen shots of content, are linked.

Textbooks that do not show or describe the innervation of the clitoris:

  1. Te Linde’s Operative Gynecology, 11e
  2. Atlas of Pelvic Anatomy and Gynecologic Surgery, 4e
  3. Hacker & Moore’s Essentials of Obstetrics and Gynecology, 6e
  4. Current Diagnosis & Treatment Obstetrics & Gynecology, 11e
  5. Comprehensive Gynecology, 7e
  6. Gynecologic Oncology: Clinical Practice and Surgical Atlas, 1e
  7. Berek & Novak’s Gynecology, 14e
  8. Netter’s Obstetrics and Gynecology, 3e
  9. Obstetrics and Gynecology, 7e
  10. Berek and Hacker’s Gynecologic Oncology, 6e

Textbooks that barely show but do not describe the innervation of the clitoris:

  1. Williams Gynecology, 3e

I was originally hard on Williams, calling it a “prime case of systemic negligence.” The truth is Williams is perhaps the least problematic of all major OB/GYN textbooks.

These are the main textbooks, as far as I can discern. I should probably re-check the others I have checked before again before I add them, just to be safe.

Getting clitoral neural anatomy included in OB/GYN textbooks. It was finally added for the first time in July 2019. BME/EE @WUSTL
