One reason some women actually do have smelly vulvas is because they think their vulva is a “vagina,” and they’ve been told vaginas are “self cleaning.”

In one study, somewhere around 30% of college aged women had clitoral adhesions. Clitoral adhesions happen when smegma builds up so much it causes the normally retractable portion of the clitoral hood to adhere to the glans. No matter how you spin it, this is disgusting.

Vaginas are self-cleaning. Vulvas are not.

Imagine what would happen if you told uncircumcised men all they needed to do was splash their penises with water to keep them clean. Their penises would smell disgusting.
