*straight, white, *male* doctors

What has been perplexing to me is how even female gynecologists are complicit in systemic negligence where vulvar anatomy and female sexual function are concerned. I’ve had almost more difficulty getting through to female doctors than male when it comes to getting them to recognize the innervation of the clitoris is largely missing from OB/GYN textbooks. That said, the only author to include it is female. But even she insisted the nerves are “too small and difficult to dissect” and left them out of an anatomic study she did.

Getting clitoral neural anatomy included in OB/GYN textbooks. It was finally added for the first time in July 2019. BME/EE @WUSTL
