The problem is these “scholarly articles” were no doubt mostly in psychology journals. Research on female orgasm is primarily concerned with what’s happening above the waist.

Very little research is published on the actual genital physiology and anatomy of orgasm in women. And if it is, it is often published in the Journal of Sexual Medicine, which has horrible quality standards. Articles in urology journals or Sexual Medicine Reviews are better. Articles in OB/GYN journals are basically non-existent.
