There is significant research that shows:

  1. Sex is framed around male pleasure and orgasm.
  2. Male orgasm is considered a requirement while female orgasm is merely a bonus.
  3. Female pleasure and female bodies are not taken as seriously.
  4. Female anorgasmia is seen as normal and not a big deal.

This is consistently found in sexuality research. It is also apparent in popular culture and in medical literature especially. People actually defend the lack of coverage of clitoral neurovascular anatomy by saying things like “female orgasm isn’t medically relevant” and “the clitoris doesn’t serve any important functions like the penis does.” Clitoral anatomy was considered important only until doctors realized it didn’t have a reproductive function.

Maybe if your dick was amputated, you would realize just how important physical components of sex really are.

Getting clitoral neural anatomy included in OB/GYN textbooks. It was finally added for the first time in July 2019. BME/EE @WUSTL
