Ugh. Actually the focus on subjective experience and psychology actually precludes good research on female sexual response. This contributes to a lack of research on and academic inclusion of vulvar anatomy and physiology of female sexual function. This puts women at risk for preventable mutilations and precludes the development of treatments for dysfunctions of physiological origin. It also perpetuates the stereotype that women are too complicated and emotional to bother with an objective, scientific approach to female sexual function.
