What? Do you not know what FGM is?

When I started my article, I meant to include more general quotes on the lack of research on clitoral anatomy and function, but then I focused in on the dorsal nerve because I got lazy. The reason I included that example was because it was an article already open on my laptop. It merely shows a lack of research on FGM, despite there being millions (hundreds of millions?) of victims worldwide. As many immigrate to Western countries, we should be more equipped to treat them.

In one study, over a 3rd of OB/GYNs misdiagnosed FGM as “normal.” This attests to the pervasive ignorance of vulvar anatomy among OB/GYNs.

The glans of the clitoris is homologous and analogous to the glans of the penis. So imagine the head of your clitoris being cut off.

Getting clitoral neural anatomy included in OB/GYN textbooks. It was finally added for the first time in July 2019. BME/EE @WUSTL
